If the progress bar of the i OS software update in i Tunes changes to “stopped” you know you were successful in stopping the download and update process from going any further.
Then you can simply select the item in the downloads list and hit the “Delete” key to remove it.
This makes it an important update for anyone using an i Phone, i Pad, or i Pod touch.
While we wait for i OS 11.2.5, Apple’s released an i OS 11.2.2 update for all i OS 11-powered i Phones and i Pads.
The process can be repeated the next time an update is accidentally starting to download, but it always requires quick action.
You must move quick because some software updates are quite small and with a fast internet connection the i OS update will quickly download and start trying to install.
If you want to keep i Tunes from checking for the same i OS update you just stopped, you need to ignore the update.
The easiest way to do that is when the pop-up appears in i Tunes, choose the “Do not ask me again” option checkbox and do not choose to download or install it.
I haven’t noticed any impact on battery life, either positive or negative, after upgrading to i OS 10.3.3.
